Core Curriculum

What is Core Curriculum?

  • The set of required academic courses that must be successfully completed by a prospective student-athlete in order to be deemed an initial academic qualifier.  Approved core courses may vary by school and are listed on the 48-H form, which is specific to each high school.

Does the core curriculum change per division?

Yes! All core courses must fall within the following categories and be completed according to the schedule listed below:

  • NCAA Division I

    • English- 4 years
    • Math- 3 years
    • Natural/Physical Science- 2 years
    • Social Science- 2 years
    • Additional English/Science/Math elective- 1
    • Electives in any of the above- 4

Completion of 10 of the required 16 core courses before the start of the seventh semester (or the equivalent) of high school. Seven of the 10 core courses must include English, mathematics and natural or physical science.

 

  • NCAA Division II

    • English- 3 years
    • Math- 2 years
    • Natural/Physical Science- 2 years
    • Social Science- 2 years
    • Additional English/Science/Math elective- 3
    • Electives in any of the above- 4

Lyle Adams

Spry’s Founder and CEO & NCAA Men’s Soccer Champion

Lyle was a member of the 2007 NCAA Men’s Soccer Championship team at Wake Forest. After embarking on a professional soccer career, Lyle transitioned to the tech industry, where he was one of the first 100 employees at Uber, designing platforms and tools for data consumers. Lyle also holds a Master’s in Sports Management from Columbia University.
