Counters

What are counters in college athletics?

Counters is the term used to describe an individual student-athlete who receives athletically related aid that counts against the NCAA’s total athletic scholarship limit.

Why are counters important?

Counters are important because, per NCAA rules, some sports have a maximum number of counters that are permitted on a roster, while others sports may have unlimited counters, but are limited by a maximum number of athletic scholarships that may be awarded.
