Evaluation Period

What is evaluation period in college athletics?

During an evaluation period, coaches are permitted to assess the academic or athletic ability of a prospective student-athlete.

What can NCAA coaches do or not do during the evaluation period of recruiting?

During an evaluation period, coaches may not have direct contact in excess of a greeting with a prospective student-athlete or their parents/guardians.

Why is the evaluation period important in recruiting?

As with other recruiting periods, the evaluation (contact) period is intended to maintain boundaries and competitive equity within the recruiting process.
